A Patterson High School student was killed Monday afternoon in the Joseph Lee Playfields area near the school.

City police said officers were called around 2 p.m. to the 5900 block of East Pratt street, where a teenage boy was shot in the head. He died at a hospital.

There’s a massive crime scene outside the school as homicide investigators mainly surround a backpack on the ground.

Baltimore City Public Schools tweeted a statement, saying: “We are aware of police activity near Patterson High School. While we are able to dismiss students safely, the investigation may affect traffic around the area. We do not have many details to immediately share except that the investigation is happening off campus. We will provide additional updates when we know more.”
